We’re in Krakow, the ancient capital of Poland, at the tomb of St. Hyacinth. Hyacinth was a diocesan priest here in the early 13th century, but when he traveled to Rome and met St. Dominic Guzman, the founder of the Order of Preachers known as the Dominicans, he was so impressed with him that he joined the newly formed community of preachers and received his white Dominican habit.

He then returned to Krakow and exactly 800 years ago, in 1222, established the first Dominican priory in Poland. It is from here that generations of friars have been sent out to evangelize all parts of the world, and it is here that we would like to invite you this summer to a week-long conference on liturgical music called Extraordinary Music Workshop.

In the medieval walls of the Krakow priory, in the spirit of its founder, we will be learning and praying with Gregorian chant, early and contemporary polyphony, as well as with Byzantine liturgical music. Getting to know diverse musical traditions of both East and West will help us discover the depth of our Christian culture. And last but not least, it will be an amazing opportunity to form an international community of people who care for beauty and reverence in the way the Church celebrates her liturgy.

We hope you will join us for the 2022 edition of Extraordinary Music Workshop, August 15 through 21. See you in Krakow!

Please find all details and sign-up form on dlc.foundation/emw (we are opening registration early May). See also what previous editions looked like.
