Dear Friends,
Among many familiar images of Christmas one stands out to me. It comes from an old Polish Christmas carol which calls Christ a friend of the human race who, like the Good Samaritan, saw humanity severely wounded by sin, left half dead by the way from Jerusalem to Jericho… This ancient piece of poetry meditates on the Incarnation as the ultimate act of God’s mercy towards us: in God-made-man He takes pity on us, binds our wounds, pours on oil and wine…
As you sing Christmas carols and reflect on the gift of Christmas, may you experience the healing this Divine intimacy brings. On behalf of the Dominican Liturgical Center of Kraków I wish you and your loved ones a blessed Christmas and a happy, grace-filled New Year!
